About us
The inequalities in
South Africa’s education system are limiting the chances for thousands of young people to enter the workforce and grow the economy.
Our Vision
Educated youth for a sustainable future
Our Approach
In educating youth for a sustainable future, we understand that it cannot be business as usual in what we teach and how we teach.
Our approach is aligned to the World Economic Forum’s Education 4.0 framework that focuses on: “Eight transformations for learning content and delivery in primary and secondary education to better prepare the next generation for the future of work and societies.”

While our programmes include an academic support component in maths and science, much is done through the Career Guidance Programme to ensure our youth are inspired to have a dream and are self-driven in achieving their dreams.
The development of global citizens – young people who are globally aware and passionate about being change-makers for a better world – is the goal of our Global Citizenship Education Programme.
We recognise, too, that we live in a world that is driven and powered by technology, making digital literacy a core fundamental competency for future success and a major part of our programmes.
Adding “the future” to education, includes social emotional learning skills. Research shows that school-based efforts to promote these skills is an effective approach to enhance children’s success in school and in life as a whole.
From humble beginnings
MSLA was founded on 20 October 2006 as a response to the inequalities in education and the need to provide opportunities for talented learners from under-privileged backgrounds to reach their full potential.
This non-profit company, which is situated in Kimberley, Northern Cape Province, South Africa, started from very humble beginnings with no place to call home. In 2008, MSLA had the opportunity to establish its own campus and create an academic home for hundreds of youth who have passed through the programmes over the years and have gone on to become professionals in STEM-related fields.
Each year MSLA provides academic support and skills development opportunities to 300 Grade 9 – 12 learners with potential and determination, from 17 local high schools, through afternoon classes, Saturday programmes and holiday academies.
